News-DemocratNovember 8, 2013

Members of the Belleville Running Club will be out early Saturday for their annual Trashy Run.

The public is invited to join in the non-competitive run. It begins at 9 a.m. at North End Park where they will pick up trash as they run and walk along the MetroLink trial and the East Belleville Bikeway/Richland Creek Greenway through Belleville and Swansea.

The route is divided into four section, ranging from 2.2 miles to 7.2 miles roundtrip.

"This is a fun run, but also a chance for us to give back to our community and keep our trail clean," said club President Toby Trapp.

The club uses portions of the MetroLink trail twice a week for group runs.

Trash bags will be provided, and gloves will be given to the first 18 participants who arrive at North End Park.
