Kings G Quick has groin strain

Uniondale, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Los Angeles Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick suffered a grade-2 groin strain and a timetable for his return to the club is unknown.

Quick was forced to exit in overtime of Tuesday's 3-2 shootout loss in Buffalo, and the club sent him back to southern California on Wednesday to have a lower-body injury checked out by team doctors. An MRI exam then revealed the damage.

Kings head coach Darryl Sutter said following a morning practice session that Quick can start rehab immediately. The 27-year-old has posted a 10-5-0 record, 2.35 goals-against average, .905 save percentage and one shutout in 16 games this season.

Los Angeles recalled goaltender Martin Jones from Manchester of the American Hockey League to serve as backup to Ben Scrivens.
