Lawyers deserve their recreation, too

WHAT IN THE world is going on with the Collinsville Area Recreation District?

On the heels of settling a federal racial discrimination lawsuit for an undisclosed amount, there is a new federal discrimination suit brought against the district by its fired business director, Rosemary Barczewski. She claims she was fired for supporting Democrats and for blowing the whistle on managers making personal use of district resources, employee harassment and golf lesson fees going south.

Political affiliation has launched so many careers in the metro-east that it wouldn't be surprising to see it end one. We have no idea whether her lawsuit has merit, but it sure makes you wonder about the leadership of the district and the newest liability facing taxpayers. Seems ripe for a public watchdog's attention, or a reality TV series: "Parks & Restraining Order."
