Police: Armed robbers wake metro-east residents with 5 a.m. break-in

Two East Carondelet residents have been arrested and charged in connection with an armed robbery at a home near East Carondelet.

Scottie R. Lambert, 24, and Tabitha L. Williamson, 21, both of 2309 State St., were charged Tuesday by the St. Clair County State's Attorney's Office.

Lambert was charged with armed robbery/discharge firearm, and Williamson was charged with armed robbery with a firearm.

The two are accused of breaking into a home around 5 a.m. Saturday in the 1700 block of State Street.

The St. Clair County Sheriff's Department responded to a report of a home invasion in progress where the victim told police he had been sleeping in the home when he heard a loud noise and woke up.

When he opened his eyes, he said he saw Lambert and Williamson in his home. He watched them walk to the back room where his brother was sleeping and he heard his brother yell, he told police

When the man followed Williamson into the kitchen she displayed a knife and cut him, according to the police report. Lambert then came into the kitchen and displayed a gun. He fired the gun at the victim but did not hit him.

The two stole items from the home and fled on foot.

Lambert's bond was set at $750,000 and Williamson's bond was set at $500,000. Both remain in custody at the St. Clair County Jail.
