Caseyville man charged with 'unprovoked attack' on man parking car

A Caseyville man was charged with a pair of felonies after a weekend fight.

On Wednesday morning the Caseyville Police Department said that Shawn Richardson, 23, was being held on $75,000 bail at the St. Clair County Jail on one count of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and one count of aggravated battery on a public roadway.

According to police, at about 5:20 p.m. Sunday a man was parking his car in the 8700 block of Maple Avenue when Richardson attacked him without provocation. The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for injuries suffered in the attack and released. Meanwhile Richardson was found by police in the area. Officers reported that he surrendered without incident.
