Highland Police are investigating an alleged inappropriate relationship between a teacher and a former student, according to Police Chief Terry Bell.
"We don't know if we have anything criminal at this point," Bell said Wednesday.
He would not disclose the gender or age of the former student other than to say the person is of legal age now.
"We are looking further into it to make sure nothing happened at an inappropriate age," Bell said.
The names of the teacher or former student were not released by police. Bell did not specify where the teacher works.
The investigation began Tuesday afternoon.
Highland School District 5 Superintendent Michael Sutton could not be reached for comment.
