News-DemocratDecember 6, 2013

— Ambulance workers found a dead teen, face down in the snow and in a pool of blood early Friday.

Roman Brooks, 18, of East St. Louis was shot to death and was found in front of a house in the 1400 block of North 44th Street, East St. Louis Assistant Police Chief Ronald Ike said. He said police have no suspects or motive.

"Our investigation has just gotten started. And, thus far the only thing we know is we have an 18-year-old male gunshot victim," Ike said.

Police received a call shortly before 5 a.m. from MedStar ambulance workers who reported finding the teen, Ike said. Illinois State Police are aiding the investigation into the 20th homicide of the year in the city.
