So far, hazardous road conditions remain well north of the metro-east.
The Illinois Department of Transportation reports that Interstate 55 beyond Interstate 270 had scattered slippery spots as of 5 p.m. Friday but other interstate highways throughout the metro-east are currently clear of ice and snow by mid-Friday afternoon. The only slick spots that have been reported as of late Friday afternoon along the interstate highways were in Springfield and into Chicago.
In the metro-east, IDOT has reported clear traveling on Interstates 55, 64, 70 and 255.
Rain has been falling across the metro-east since early Friday afternoon, and the National Weather Service has issued a winter storm advisory remains in effect for the greater St. Louis area from 6 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday. Snow is forecast for Friday night with accumulation of as much as 3 to 5 inches.
