O'Fallon's Perrier competes in national cross country meet

For the second straight year, O'Fallon's senior Patrick Perrier's wrapped up his cross country season by competing in the Foot Locker Cross Country Championship in San Diego.

The Class 3A state cross country champion, Perrier ran the 5-kilometer Morley Field at Balboa Park course in 16 minutes, 20 seconds on Saturday and placed 37th in the elite 40-runner field.

A Stanford University recruit, Perrier placed 19th in the 2012 event. Grant Fisher, of Grand Blanc, Mich., won the race in 15:07. John Dressel, of Mount Spokane, Wash., was second in 15:10.

The Foot Locker Championships included 40 of the top male and female high school runners in the nation. Athletes qualified for the national finals at sectional competition in November.
