Only humane to fund animal shelter

December 19, 2013

A letter on Dec. 10 by John Frazier takes a shot at St. Clair Township Road Commissioner Skip Kernan for funding the Belleville Area Humane Society for the service it provides to the community. Frazier speaks out against funding the Humane Society but apparently does not have a problem with the township giving funds to PSOP or ATS. Why does Frazier take aim at helpless animals that rely on us to help?

Frazier needs to spend some time in a cage and see whether he likes it, or live on the street with no food, water or shelter and see whether he can survive.

I believe the $3,000 Kernan spends on the Belleville Area Humane Society makes sense. The funding helps get animals off the street and provides food, shelter and medical care until they can be adopted. Frazier and his sidekick, former township supervisor Tim Buchanan, need to get over it.
