Wayne Wagner Sr. was a fixture in the Belleville business community for nearly three decades as the owner of the former Wagner Motor Car Company.

Wagner, 91, a third generation Buick dealer from 1956 to 1984, died Friday at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville.

He is survived by his children Wayne "Rusty" Wagner Jr., of Millstadt, Nancy Wagner, of Belleville, and Dwight Wagner, of Swansea, and a sister Carol Crook, of Belleville, as well as his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Private services will be held at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville with burial at Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights.

In February, Oliver C. Joseph Chrysler Dodge Jeep purchased Wagner Motor Car Co., and it became Oliver C. Joseph Buick GMC. The two dealerships operated directly across the road from each other on Illinois 15 for the past five years and are now one dealership.
