The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis has been called in to assist police on a second homicide in less than a week in Madison County.
The body of Jarrett D. Mosby, 21, of Collinsville, was found in the front seat of a silver Pontiac at the intersection of West 2nd Street in Madison Tuesday afternoon, according to Lt. Matt Eiskant, Deputy Commander of the Major Case Squad. Mosby was pronounced dead at the scene.
Madison Police responded to a call regarding a traffic accident at 12:44 p.m. When police arrived, they instead found Mosby dead of multiple gunshot wounds.
The Major Case Squad was activated to assist in the investigation of Mosby's murder around 1:30 p.m.
Mosby was a senior at the University of Missouri. He was in the area during the school's winter break to visit his young son during the holidays, police said.

Late last week the body of a missing St. Louis woman, Sybil A. Brandon, 50, was found in the trunk of an abandoned car in Madison at west Third and Jackson streets. An autopsy determined Brandon died of a gunshot wound to the head.
The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis continues to investigate leads in Brandon's murder and asks anyone with any information about her disappearance and death to contact the squad at the Madison Police Department at 876-4300.
