Man charged in metro-east home repair scam

A Pontoon Beach man has been charged with stealing from an elderly victim last week.

Noah Boswell, 24, of 612 Peacock Circle in Pontoon Beach, has been charged with felony theft over $500 in connection with a home repair scam. The victim, who loves on Lou Juan Drive in Glen Carbon, reported to police Dec. 10 that two men contacted him at his home and solicited him for home repair work. The victim paid the men for work done. The men came back to the victim's home the next day and claimed the check the victim gave them did not clear and demanded cash payment.

The victim complied and handed over the cash. The victim later learned the check had been cashed by the suspects.

Detectives with the Madison County Sheriff's Office initiated an investigation, and identified Noah Boswell as one of the men involved in this case. Boswell was contacted by Detectives on December 17, near his home in Pontoon Beach.

Boswell was subsequently arrested for the charge of theft over $500. He was taken to the Madison County Jail and charged. Detectives continue to investigate the case.

His bond was set at $75,000 by Madison County Judge James Hackett.
