Freezing temperatures, a few flakes for Christmas Eve

Single digit temperatures greeted metro-east residents Tuesday morning as they headed out for the morning commute.

It will warm up in the afternoon, but not much. The mercury is expected to reach only 23 during the daylight hours. There is a 30 percent chance of snow flurries in the forecast overnight with a low of 20.

The chance of flurries continues until about noon on Christmas Day but there is little chance of accumulation. The high temperature will reach 39.

Skies will clear in the afternoon Wednesday and the temperature will drop to 23 overnight.

A high of 40 under mostly sunny skies is expected Thursday with a low of 21. It will be sunny Friday with a high of 39 and a low of 27.
