How long will the cold temperatures last?

News-DemocratDecember 30, 2013

Monday morning commuters will have to deal with bitterly cold temperatures.

The mercury registered only 11 degrees at 7 a.m. It will reach a high of 26 in the afternoon under mostly sunny skies. The low will reach 21 overnight.

On Tuesday the high will reach 34 degrees under mostly sunny skies with a low of 27.

A brief warm-up is expected Wednesday with a high of 47 on New Year's Day. But partly sunny skies and warmer than usual temperatures will disappear during the evening hours, giving way to a 30 percent chance of rain turning to snow.

The overnight low will drop to 22.
