Freezing pipes damage Alton mall

News-DemocratJanuary 7, 2014

Frigid conditions have caused part of the Alton Square Mall to flood.

According to fire department reports, a frozen pipe caused the mall's water sprinkler system to activate on the west side of the building which caused water to shower down in three occupied stores and two vacant ones.

The problem is not expected to keep the mall from opening for business.

It is expected to be open from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m., according to the Alton Square Mall website.
