Firefighters respond to flooding in Fairview Heights hotel lobby

News-DemocratJanuary 8, 2014

Firefighters were at the Four Points Sheraton hotel in Fairview Heights early Wednesday morning.

They responded to a notification that the building's fire suppression system had been activated, possibly because of a frozen pipe or sprinkler head.

The signal apparently came when a pipe or a sprinkler head in the fire suppression system burst, causing the lobby of the hotel to flood.

According to firefighters, the damage has been restricted to the common area and none of the guests at the hotel had to be evacuated.
