A new survey reveals that U.S. businesses added 238,000 jobs in December, up from the 229,000 jobs added in November. The nation's largest bank, JPMorgan Chase & Co., will forfeit a record $1.7 billion to settle criminal charges related to the Bernie Madoff fraud case.
