A Belleville man has been sentenced to more than two years in federal prison for illegal possession of a firearm.

Joel A. Dozier, 25, received 28 months behind bars followed by three years of supervised release after pleading guilty to the gun charge.

According to U.S. Attorney Stephen Wigginton, Dozier was interviewed on Feb. 7 about a robbery.

When questioned by officers, he appeared nervous and eventually admitted to police that he had a stolen .22 caliber derringer in his pocket.
