Police: Belleville man arrested for trying to pass fake $20 bills at local stores

Caseyville Police have arrested a Belleville man they say was trying to pass counterfeit money at several area businesses.

Earnest D. Rice, 25, of the 300 block of West I Street in Belleville, was arrested shortly after noon Sunday in Caseyville after allegedly trying to pass fake $20 bills at several stores.

Rice was charged Tuesday with two Class 3 felony counts of forgery by the St. Clair County State's Attorney's Office. He was jailed on $40,000 bail.
