I-70 BASEBALL COACHES CLINIC -- 11th annual I-70 Coaches Clinic Jan. 20 at Greenville High School featuring San Diego Padres Class AAA manager Pat Murphy, Kentucky coach Gary Henderson, former SIU Carbondale and Illinois coach Richard "Itchy" Jones and Prosper (Texas) High coach Rick Carpenter, the father of St. Louis Cardinals infielder Matt Carpenter. Fee: $50 per single coach ($60 at the door), $90 for two coaches ($110 at the door), $130 for three coaches ($160 at the door) and a staff rate of $175 for four to seven coaches ($220 at the door). SWIC SHOWCASE -- Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville will hold a Showcase Camp Jan. 25 for pitchers, catchers and position players at the SWIC intramural gym located next to the tennis courts. Pitchers and catchers begin at 9 a.m. and position players at 10:15 a.m. All players should bring their own glove and tennis shoes; catchers should bring their own gear. Helmets for hitters provided. Fee: $40 for pitcher or position player in advance and $50 to preregister as a pitcher and position player. Registration at the door is $45 for one position and $60 for two. 222-5371.

U.S. BASEBALL ACADEMY -- U.S. Baseball Academy training program coming for grades 1-12 to Lindenwood University-Belleville Feb. 9, Feb. 16, Feb. 23 and March 2, March 9 and March 16. The program is operated by Tampa Bay scout Jason Ford and includes advanced hitting, pitching, fielding, baserunning and catching training. Fees as low as $99. BLUFF CITY --Bluff City 16-under and 10-under select fastpitch teams are looking for players. The 16-under team is seeking two to four players; catcher, pitcher and outfield are particular needs.
