Students at Holy Cross Lutheran School in Collinsville laughed hard and smiled a lot during a visit by Fredbird, the mascot for the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. He was accompanied Thursday morning by Cardinals broadcaster Mike Claiborne. The student body - about 130 students - gathered in the gymnasium for a presentation by Claiborne (with Fredbird's help) about the importance of staying in school, keeping healthy by participating in sports, and saying "no" to drugs. Some students had written articles about the importance of staying in school and avoiding drugs. Others were able to receive Cardinals gear for their participation in games and other events the duo had prepared for the group.
