O'Fallon Police are searching for a pair of men blamed for Thursday thefts.
One stole frames from an eyeglasses store while another strolled into a convenience store and helped himself to several bottles of liquor.
According to a Capt. Jim Cavins, at 10 a.m. a suspect entered All About Eyes at 1222 Central Park Drive, grabbed the glasses, which he concealed in his clothing and fled. According to surveillance videos released by police, he was a black man with a beard who was wearing a hoodie sweatshirt, jeans and tennis shoes.
Police said the same suspect may have been involved in a similar crime at Clarkson Eye Center in Greenmount Crossing in Shiloh just minutes before the O'Fallon theft.
"Investigators are still trying to determine that," Cavins said when asked why a suspect might want to steal eyeglass frames. "It's definitely unusual for that to happen."
At about 8:45 p.m. police said a man entered the Circle K store at 320 W. State St.
"He walked in, got what he needed very casually and then he walked right out," Cavins said.
He was described as black male with gray hair and a heavy build, and was wearing a blue sweatshirt, a khaki jacket and blue jeans, police said.
Cavins said he couldn't offer an estimate of the value of the eyeglass frames or the liquor.
