Poor, homeless invited to healthcare meeting Saturday

Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation and the Coalition For Economic and Social Justice are holding a meeting to discuss healthcare insurance for poor and homeless people Saturday at the Belleville Main Library. The event is free and open to the public.

The meeting kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday with guest speaker Elizabeth Brookshire from the Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation. Attendees will be given an opportunity to ask questions, according to event organizer Jesse Arms with the Coalition For Economic and Social Justice.

A meal will be served at noon at Conqueror's Christian Church, 200 E. Washington St. in Belleville.

From 1 to 3 p.m., poor and homeless people will be able to sign up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act at the library, located at 121 E. Washington in Belleville.
