Metro-east residents awoke Tuesday morning to a winter weather mess.
Bone-chilling cold, gusty winds and up to two inches of snow fell in some places overnight. And more of the same is in the works for later in the day, according to the National Weather Service.
There is a 50 percent chance of snow throughout the morning hours with a high temperature of 17 degrees expected Tuesday. Winds will gust up to 34 miles an hour.
Skies will clear in the afternoon and the wind gusts will decrease to 13-18 miles an hour. Tuesday night the low temperature will drop to 10 degrees.
Wednesday will be a little bit warmer with a high temperature of 33 degrees. But the mercury will plunge to 4 overnight and will only reach a high of 13 Wednesday. The low Thursday night will bottom out at 3.
