I don't fault the First Lady for wanting to hang around a few more days in Hawaii without the First Hubby, as an early celebration of her up-coming 50th birthday. She's probably still peeved at him for his embarrassing "selfie" antics during their recent Africa trip.
What I do have a problem with, and I think there are a few out there that will back me up, is that the president expects American taxpayers to foot the bill for this expensive gift. That's not only arrogant but pretty unromantic as well.
This marks the second year in a row that the annual Obama vacation junket to Hawaii has required two VIP aircraft and two trips out and back. Even the inept traveler, Clark Griswold, was a more effective trip planner. Clark's words from the movie "Vacation" predate Obama's reign but fit nonetheless, "We watch his program ... we buy his toys, we go to his movies ... he owes us. Doesn't he owe us, huh? He owes the Griswolds, right?"
My Dad used to tell me that money didn't grow on trees. That is a life lesson apparently lost of the Obamas. It's only money, right? Easy for them to say.
