Remove marijuana from Schedule 1

January 24, 2014

This letter is in regard to the new Illinois medical marijuana law.

At the federal level, there are long-standing threats from Drug Enforcement Administration, Department Of Justice and Department of Health and Human Services to take the prescription pad away from any doctor who prescribes a Schedule I drug. As of this writing, marijuana is still a Schedule I drug according to DEA's website. So don't be surprised if your doctor says no regardless of what Illinois law says.

Illinois website http://mcpp.illinois.gov has a comments section. I suggest everyone post the following comment. "The Obama administration should remove marijuana from federal Schedule I."

Additional information on drug scheduling is posted on RichardDeBiase.com.
