Snow is back in the forecast Friday night

News-DemocratJanuary 24, 2014

The temperature will climb over the freezing mark Friday. But the weather will still be brisk thanks to wind gusts of up to 40 miles an hour.

Temperatures were in the single digits at sunrise and about 10 degrees during the morning rush. But the high will climb to 35 by the afternoon under mostly sunny skies, according to the National Weather Service.

There's a 50 percent chance of light snow Friday night after 9 p.m. when the low temperature will drop to 28.

The chance of snow continues into Saturday morning but the flakes should stop falling by 10 a.m. Temperatures will peak at 34 before noon Saturday, then drop throughout the rest of the day to a low of 23 Saturday night.

A brief warm-up will take place Sunday when a high of 53 is expected under partly sunny skies. But the higher temperatures will disappear as quickly as they arrived, dropping to 9 Sunday night -- when there is a chance of more light snow.
