The former Horseshoe Lounge & Restaurant in Collinsville is getting a new life under new ownership.
John Eichenlaub, of the BarberMurphy Group in Shiloh, said the longtime sports bar and grill that closed in 2011 is making a comeback. Renovation is underway at the restaurant, located at 410 St. Louis Road, where the new owners plan to create a family-style restaurant atmosphere. They are also keeping the Horseshoe name. The proprietors of a metro-east Penn Station East Coast Subs plan to expand into Belleville. Atis Kahn and his wife Lisa, who is the managing owner, say they will open another sub sandwich restaurant by the first week of April at 651 Carlyle Ave. in East Belleville, where a Blockbuster video rental store had operated until a couple of years ago. The Kahns also own the Penn Station at 2085 W. Highway 50 in Fairview Heights.
A new pastry shop opens today in Edwardsville. Owners Dan and Amy Maddox are opening Brevan's Patisserie in the University Pointe II shopping center, located off Illinois 157 and next to the Los Tres Amigos restaurant.
First Community State Bank will merge with the Bank of Springfield. After the transaction, BOS will take over FCS Banks located in Glen Carbon, Edwardsville and surrounding communities. BOS already has metro-east branches in Swansea and Shiloh.
A third-party construction supply company has left Fairview Heights and relocated across the river. Goedecke has moved its operations and all metro-east employees at 9669 Illinois 161 to St. Louis. The company provides professional contractors for concrete forming, scaffolding, rebar fabrication and more.
Steve Bennett and Connie Kappert-Knipp have opened two RE/MAX Signature Properties offices this month in the metro-east. You'll find one at 3512 Lebanon Ave., Suite C, in Shiloh, and the other at 10033 Fuesser Road in Mascoutah. Benett and Kappert-Knipp had been working for Prudential until last year.
