Two face charges following rash of home, car burglaries in Columbia

A Caseyville man and a Collinsville juvenile face more than two dozen charges related to a string of burglaries to homes and cars in Columbia, according to police.

Tyler W. Ashcraft, 18, of Caseyville has been arrested and charged with 21 counts of burglary from a motor vehicle and 3 counts of residential burglary.

Police are pursuing the juvenile, according to Columbia Police Chief Joe Edwards.

Edwards said police with the "Columbia Police Department have been working around the clock to solve these crimes." The department first began investigating the burglaries on Dec. 26.

Columbia police along with police in Edwardsville, Caseyville and Collinsville have been investigating the cases.
