MoDOT delays I-70 closure

News-DemocratJanuary 29, 2014

The Missouri Department of Transportation will push back a week plans to close all westbound lanes of Interstate 70 in downtown St. Louis between the Poplar Street Bridge and Pine Streets.

The closure will now take place from 8 p.m. on Feb. 8 until noon on Feb. 9, weather permitting, so crews can install girders over the interstate for the new Walnut Street bridge, part of a project designed to link the riverfront with downtown.

Eads Bridge will also be closed during the construction work.

At the same time, one lane of eastbound I-70 will be closed with intermittent full closures of eastbound I-70 for up to 15 minutes.

According to MoDOT, the detour for the westbound interstate will be to exit onto northbound Memorial Drive and take 3rd Street to the ramp to westbound I-70 at the Martin Luther King Bridge.
