Snow days give the wrong lesson

January 29, 2014

Tuesday, Jan. 21. Another snow day (1/2 to 1 inch total) for schools in the metro-east area. Am I surprised? No, these school officials will call off school for a heavy frost on the windshields. It's no wonder school scores are so terrible. School is never in session long enough for the students to learn anything. Instead of making up these missed days in the spring, the schools are now applying for an "Act Of God" clause which will not require them to make up these days. So much for our hard-earned tax-dollars going for education. What kind of example are these officials setting for the kids? These children are in for a rude awaking when they enter the job market and call in for a snow day. Wait! They won't be working or looking for jobs anyway; they will all be on the Democratic Party dole receiving the free gimmes!
