HSHS Southern Illinois CEO leaves post

The president and chief executive officer who oversaw St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville and other Southern Illinois hospitals for Hospital Sisters Health System has resigned.

Springfield-based Hospital Sisters Health System has announced Mark Reifsteck has stepped down as of Jan. 24 to take a new job with Dearborn Advisors LLC, a Northern Illinois consulting firm in Elmhurst.

Reifsteck had served as the president chief executive officer of HSHS Southern Illinois Division since 2009.

HSHS' Southern Illinois Division includes St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville, St. Joseph's Hospital in Highland, St. Joseph's Hospital in Breese and St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

HSHS Chief Operating Officer Larry Schumacher will serve as the interim division president and chief executive officer for the Southern Illinois Division.

St. Elizabeth's Hospital President and Chief Executive Officer Maryann Reese was unavailable for comment Wednesday.
