Hard work is the answer

February 1, 2014

The "Puritan Work Ethic" is what brought this country to greatness. The erosion of this ethic began with Roosevelt in the 1930s and it has been going downhill ever since. Social Security did away with the individual need to prepare for an age when someone couldn't work or have the younger generation house and care for them. There were as many as four generations living in the same household back when work was considered important.

The War on Poverty from the 1960s has brought on more poverty and cheating the government by arranging for more than one check from the government. Food stamps was another way to keep people from working for a living and brought more cheating for extra food that was traded for drugs and a way to have more for gambling. A wise man said "if you don't work, you don't eat" and it should be true today. I say we should do away all free money for the able bodied (male and female). Social Security should be privatized with oversight by the government.

Companies who have exported their manufacturing jobs overseas should be taxed so heavily that they would be forced to bring back those jobs.
