O"FALLON — Donovan Franklin scored 22 points as the O'Fallon Panthers beat the Collinsville Kahoks 61-41 Friday night in a Southwestern Conference boys basketball game.
The Panthers also got 15 points from Darien McClain and 13 points from Chance Armstrong.
The Panthers led 27-22 at haftime, but broke open a close game by outscoring the Kahoks 16-2 in the third quarter.
Harrison Wethers was the top scorer for the Kahoks with 10 points. Brett Langley had nine points.
Gibault 69, Madison 64
Wes Degener's 18 points helped the Gibault Hawks (16-4) beat the Madison Trojans (9-5) in a battle of state-ranked Class 1A teams.
The Hawks, ranked sixth in Class 1A, also got 15 points from Mitch Meyer and 11 points from Nick Row. The Trojans were ranked fourth in Class 1A.
Waterloo 37, Civic Memorial 34, 2 OT
Waterloo outscored Civic Memorial 7-4 in the second overtime to continue its bid for its first basketball conference championship since 1981.
Zach Schaab led Waterloo (13-5 overall, 4-1 in the Mississippi Valley Conference) with 12 points while Rick Wiegand had nine and Shane Lenhardt added eight. Civic Memorial (12-9, 2-3) got 12 points from Jakob Lowrance.
"It just seemed like every possession took a while," Waterloo coach C.J. Cruser. "We could have used a shot clock tonight. The pace was a slow, it was in spurts the whole game."
Central 53, Freeburg 40
Logan Kohrmann tossed in 21 points as the Central Cougars beat the Freeburg Midgets in a Cahokia Conference game.
Kenton Roekenhaus also scored in double figures for the Cougars (16-4 overall, 6-1 in the conference) with 14 points.
Justin Diecker paced the Midgets (10-9, 4-2) with 20 points.
Mascoutah 52, Triad 44
M.Z. Duprey and Patrick White each had nine points in leading the Mascoutah Indians past the Triad Knights (5-14, 2-3) in a Mississippi Valley Conference game.
Brian Pettiford chipped in eight points for the Indians (5-17 overall, 2-2 in the conference).
Okawville 67, Columbia 53
Noah Frederking poured in 29 points and Jacob Brammeier chipped in 21 points as the Okawville Rockets (11-5) downed the Columbia Eagles.
Ryan Gudeman led the Eagles (7-14) with 21 points.
Wesclin 77, Red Bud 60
Kyle Eversgerd's 23 points helped carry the Wesclin Warriors past the Red Bud Musketeers. Alex Smith contributed 15 points and Jarad Steenbergen had nine points for the Warriors (8-13 overall, 3-4 in the conference).
The Musketeers (4-18, 1-6) almost have five players in double figures as Josh Snyder had 14 points, Caleb Grohmann had 12 points, Dylan Roy had 12 points, Tim Mehring had 11 points and Addison Gunter had nine.
