A Fairview Heights gas station failed a police sting and sold alcohol to a minor.

Illinois State Police conducted the operation Jan. 31 when they surveyed 30 locations in Belleville, O'Fallon, Caseyville, Lebanon and Fairview Heights to see what businesses might sell alcoholic beverages to people under age 21.

BP Amoco, 10040 Lincoln Trail, was involved in the sale of alcohol to a minor, according to police.

Employee Justin Leingang was arrested for unlawful delivery of alcoholic liquor to a minor, a misdemeanor. He was released on a notice to appear in court.

The project was funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety.
