SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE — President Barack Obama has nominated Air Force Gen. Paul J. Selva, who leads Air Mobility Command, to serve as commander of the U.S. Transportation Command, Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel announced Friday.
Air Mobility Command and the U.S. Transportation Command are both based at Scott Air Force Base.
Selva has been the commander of Air Mobility Command since late 2012.
Gen. William M. Fraser III has served as commander of U.S. Transportation Command since 2011.
"If confirmed, (Selva) will be an outstanding successor to Gen. Fraser who's been an exemplary, effective Transcom commander and we will miss him, and we appreciate his tremendous service to this country," Hagel said.
