The building that houses the Ramada Inn and TGI Friday's restaurant in Fairview Heights will soon be demolished so the restaurant can build a new building nearby.

The current building at 6900 N. Illinois St. will be torn down. Construction of the new restaurant will begin sometime this spring and is expected to open by August.

The $3 million project will include the 8,800-square-foot restaurant and 157-space parking lot. Additional space will also be reserved for a possible new hotel development.

TGI Friday's plans to retain its 26 employees and add another 20 workers.
