Fugitive teen murder suspect captured after five-hour standoff

— After surrounding a house, police on Saturday captured a fugitive teenager wanted in connection with a murder just over a year ago.

Shaun C. Henderson, 17, was arrested after police received a tip that he was in a home at 1416 N. 43rd St.

"As police were attempting to establish communications with the suspect, he fled through a rear door and was apprehended," said Illinois State Police Capt. James Morrisey.

Henderson was charged with first-degree murder in August in connection with the shooting death of Jordan Anderson on Jan. 12, 2013, in the 1400 block of North 44th Street, which is near where Henderson was caught Saturday.

Henderson was 16 at the time of the homicide. He was taken to a juvenile detention center.

Police received a tip at 11:30 a.m. that Henderson was at the home and officers arrived a short time later. He was arrested about 4:30 p.m.

As Henderson left the building, a SWAT team entered the home to look for other suspects. After obtaining a search warrant, officers searched the house for evidence on Saturday night.

The murder charge alleges Henderson chased down on foot and repeatedly shot Anderson, who was 21.
