Residents of East St. Louis apartment building spend week without power

The power is finally back on at an East St. Louis apartment building after residents spent a week in the cold and dark.

According to a KMOV report, occupants of the Landsdown Towers were allegedly left without electricity while repair workers waited for a part to be shipped in from Minnesota. The power was finally turned back on Monday.

East St. Louis Mayor Alvin Parks told KMOV that he's frustrated by the fact that his city's housing authority has been under federal government control since 1985 so there was nothing that could be done locally to help the residents of the tower.
