Police look for man in connection with slaying near Belleville

The St. Clair County Sheriff's Department is looking for Ricky R. Moore Jr., 27, of Belleville, in connection with the Feb. 9 shooting death of Darrin Hayes.

Police are asking for the public's help to find a person of interest wanted in connection with last week's shooting death in an apartment near Belleville.

Ricky R. Moore Jr., 27, of 423 S. 20th St. in Belleville, is wanted for questioning in reference to the homicide of Darrin Hayes, according to St. Clair County Captain Scott Weymouth.

Hayes, 25, was shot in front of his two children, ages 2 years and 2 months, Feb. 9 inside his apartment at 5902 Gateway Industrial Drive in unincorporated Belleville.

Moore has an active warrant for his arrest for petition to revoke probation. His bail is set at $50,000, Weymouth said.

Three people were charged last week in connection with the killing.

Anthony P. Allen, 21, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Amanda M. Kent, 26, of O'Fallon, each were charged Tuesday with first-degree murder. Brittney Y. Moore, 24, of Belleville, was charged with obstructing justice.
