High-speed rail meeting set for Tuesday

News-DemocratFebruary 20, 2014

Metro-east residents can learn more about the high-speed rail project in Illinois, specifically the segment between Granite City and St. Louis, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center.

The Illinois Department of Transportation, in order to meet federal requirements, is hosting the open-house style meeting. IDOT will provide information about the high-speed rail route, including the study process, purpose and need, and the initially identified alternatives to the route.

IDOT and other representatives will be available for the two-hour meeting to answer questions and to take comment from the public.

The Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center is in East St. Louis; parking is available and the center is served by MetroLink and MetroBus.
