Railroad crossing open after midday malfunction in Belleville

News-DemocratFebruary 20, 2014

Malfunctioning railroad crossing arms caused traffic backups midday on Illinois 159 in Belleville.

Shortly after 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Belleville police officers responded to the area to help direct traffic around the crossing arms, which were down, although there was no train in sight.

The issue was cleared up and traffic was moving smoothly by 2 p.m.
