Harold R. Bellm, 84, of Highland died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at Highland Health Care Center in Highland.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Feb. 25 at Meridith Funeral Home in Highland and Feb. 26 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church in Highland. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Feb. 26 at Hope Lutheran Church in Highland, with the Rev Leonard Laetsch, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Highland City Cemetery.
He was born Sept. 10, 1929, in Highland to Raymond and Leona (Brave) Bellm. On July 23, 1951, he married Jean Snelson in Highland, who survives in Highland.
Mr. Bellm started in flooring, working for Roland Harris and went to school to become a master flooring specialist. He then opened Bellm Flooring and Interiors with his wife, Jean, and was in business for 45 years. He worked part-time with Carson Pirie Scott Inc. and J.P. Stevens Inc., all while owning his own business.
He loved to go to his cabin to fish and hunt mushrooms. He also enjoyed the outdoors and camping. He enjoyed traveling and loved his family vacations. He liked to cook and make homemade wine. He loved his family, especially his grandkids and his kitty, Jasmine.
He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge and the Highland VFW Post 5694.
He is also survived by daughters, Pamela Bellm Morgan of Highland and Debra (David) Barth of Highland; grandchildren, Michael D. Barth, Jennifer R. Barth, Eric C. (Emily) Morgan; an aunt, Betty (Jim) Voss; and nieces, Mary (Jim) Allen, Dotte Jean Bellm, Sandy Bellm and Carla (Dean) Haukap.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Duane Bellm; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Bellm; and a son-in-law, Lloyd C. Morgan.
