Man accused of stealing $10,000 worth of steel posts from IDOT

Soloman Craighead, 61, of East St. Louis, was charged with stealing more than $10,000 worth of galvanized posts from the Illinois Department of Transportation.

An East St. Louis man has been charged in connection with the theft of more than $10,000 worth of steel posts from an Illinois Department of Transportation construction site.

Soloman Craighead, 61, of East St. Louis, was charged by the Madison County State's Attorney's Office with one count of felony theft.

The galvanized posts were taken between Jan. 4 and Sunday from a construction zone on Interstate 270 near the Chain of Rocks Canal bridge.

Craighead remains in custody in the Madison County Jail in Edwardsville on $50,000 bail.
