Fairview Heights man accused of aggravated battery

A Fairview Heights man recently was charged in connection with an alleged domestic and aggravated battery in Belleville.

Brandon J. Dawson, 19, of 206 Debra Drive, was charged Feb. 24 with aggravated domestic battery causing great bodily harm, aggravated domestic battery and two counts of aggravated battery in a public way, according to court records.

He was arrested and bail was set at $100,000. He posted $10,000 bond and was released from police custody.

Dawson is accused of battering a 19-year-old female victim Feb. 22 somewhere between Signal Hill Boulevard and 100 N. Delaware Avenue in Belleville.

Belleville Police Captain Don Sax did not release the victim's name. He did not release more details about the alleged crime, since police continue to investigate.

"The case is still pending," Sax said.

Dawson was on probation for two theft charges from 2013, according to court records.
