Mercury continues gradual climb; 50s by Friday

The temperature will continue its gradual trend upward Wednesday, although it is still well below normal for this time of year.

According to the National Weather Service, the high Wednesday will reach 38 degrees under partly sunny skies. The average high temperature for the first week of March in St. Louis is 50.

Overnight the low will drop to 21. On Thursday skies will be mostly sunny with a high of 40 and an overnight low of 25. Skies will be mostly sunny with a high of 52 on Friday.

The long range forecast calls for a 40 percent chance of rain turning to snow Saturday. But with high temperatures both days this weekend around 46, any accumulation should quickly melt.
