East St. Louis residents invited to sign up for healthcare coverage

East St. Louis residents who are uninsured or underinsured will have two opportunities this weekend to sign up for healthcare coverage under the federal Affordable Care Act.

Enrollment events will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Mason Clark Middle School, located at 5510 State St. in East St. Louis, and from 12:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Unity Lutheran Church, located at 4200 Caseyville Ave. in East St. Louis.

Transportation from the locations listed below to Mason Clark Middle School will be available every hour from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday:

* Samuel Gompers, 450 N. 6th St., East St. Louis

* Roosevelt's Homes, 1328 N. 44th St., East St. Louis

* John D. Shields , 1235 McCasland Ave., East St. Louis

* Orr Weathers, 1400 Missouri Ave., East St. Louis

To enroll, East St. Louis residents should bring the following information: social security number, employer and income information, tax information and insurance policy number if already insured.

If residents enroll by March 15, the plan will begin April 1.
