Metro-east motorists who are traveling west this weekend might have to find a different route to get where they're going.

The Missouri Department of Transportation will close Interstate 64 in both directions between the Kingshighway Boulevard and Forest Park Parkway exits from 8 p.m. Friday until about 3 a.m. Monday.

The closure is needed so demolition crews can demolish the Tower Grove and Boyle bridges to allow the construction of a new interchange.

Traffic will be diverted to interstate off ramps and onto secondary roads, creating lengthy delays for motorists.
