Book store makes a move in Granite City

News-DemocratMarch 10, 2014

A used book store in Granite City is in the middle of a move.

BSR Used Books has closed its store at 1239 19th St. and will reopen on March 17 about three blocks away at 1400 Niedringhaus Ave. Bruce Campbell, who opened the book store in October 2010, said the new locale will be larger and more visible for his business.

"We're doing well right now, but we're going to a better location," he said. "Niedringhaus is one of the main drags through town."

BSR stands for the first names of Campbell's family: Bruce Campbell, his wife, Stacie Campbell, and his daughter, Rachel Pope.

A grand opening for store will be held on March 22. The book store's phone number will remain the same: 618-920-5932.

Froesel Tire in Belleville has closed. Also known as Centreads, the tire dealer at 420 S. Illinois St. went out of business last week. Former general manager John Womble has taken on a job a block away at Friedrerich Radiator at 523 S. High St., which can be reached at 618-277-5954.

Belleville's second Papa Vito's Pizza may be two or three weeks from opening. The pizzeria has a new sign outside the building at 4205 North Belt West, which in the past was home to Ken's/Mazzio's Pizza before housing the Evergreen Chinese Restaurant and, most recently, Yamato Japanese Restaurant. The first Papa Vito's Pizza has been operating in Waterloo since 1983 and another has been at 318 N. Washington St. in downtown Belleville since January 2011.
